Character Animation
Topic 1: Posing
Exercise 1

1.

Extreme Shoulder Rotation
Extreme Hand pose

Extreme Root Translation

What i have done and learnt in class. Difficulty level was low because of course it is just the starting and this are just basics of getting know which points controls which part of the body. Also, i need to know when to use the rotate tool and when to use the move tool to get what i want while animating.

2.

Upside Down pose

This was really way more difficult and tedious. Lots of trial and error. At the start, i thought by selecting the whole of spiderman, i will be able to rotate it upside down first, and obviously i was oblivious to think that way. Got some help from my classmates and manage to slowly point by point move and rotate every individual NURBS curves.

Exercise 2

First Pose

spider man climbing up a building

Second Pose

Spiderman leaping off a building going forward.

PROJECT 1

Project 1

Project 1 wasn't very simple as i thought it would be. It is quite a tedious process but i'm finally done with it. The effects i did using Adobe After Effects are the rising light at the house

Effects used are: Warp Stabilizer
                     Threshold
                                     CC Radial Fast Blur
               Masking

The light rays were actually coming from top to bottom but i made it bottom to top by using iMovie reverse function.

and the virus getting pixelated before disappearing after getting rebounded by the house shield.

Effects used are: Mosaic
                                Masking

The masking part to cover just the virus wasn't easy as i had to keep shifting after every certain number of frames to ensure the top left right and bottom of the viruses are pixelated well and naturally.

I also did the videoing with my video camera where my actor was using the computer using different kind of camera angle to take the scene.

The video compilation, most tedious one was also done by me using iMovie. Why is this the most tedious one because every mini second counts and adjusting it to make it pitch perfect wasn't easy. Lots of trial and error were required.

The background music and sound effects were added in by me too to make the video more appealing compared to a silent one. Most of the sound effects were from http://www.sounddogs.com/ .

week 1 Lab 3

Question:

An important step in matchmoving is creating a coordinate system. Explain what this means.

Answer:

Matchmover manages a set of user-defined coordinate system with respect to the cameras ad 3D points. Match mover will choose an arbitrary coordinate system if none is specified. You are able to define a coordinate system in order to facilitate the manipulation of your exported project in a 3D package. Match mover will also align the coordinate system on the computed position of the camera for the first frame if no point relations was set up. The default is the camera facing the Y and Z as up axis but this will change accordion to your project's 3D parameters by selecting a different up axis.
